Please help us take action and prevent our city from criminalizing spontaneous acts of generosity.
A new draft amendment to the city ordinance states:
“It shall be unlawful for any organization or individual to sponsor or conduct a food service event on public or private property without the advance written consent of the public or private property owner...”
People who have extra food and find a group of hungry people in public will be committing a crime if they share it because they don't have prior written permission. Fines against good Samaritans go up to at least $500. Without any studies or public input, the city is in a huge rush to pass this horrible law. The people united can stop it.
